There’s Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday—all devoted to the great American pastime of getting and spending. Nothing wrong with that—it’s all good. The economy needs the boost.

But today is Giving Tuesday, founded by the American Red Cross along with other U.S. charities. And today is our opportunity to start a habit of giving back to a plethora of worthy cause choices on www.givingtuesday.org. You can donate, volunteer—get involved in a charity.

Here’s another idea: start every day by clicking on www.thehungersite.com, click on the icon and-presto-you’ve just donated food to a starving child. It costs you nothing—sponsors donate the funds to buy the food for children, not only in Africa, but here at home.

I’ve got plenty of bad habits, but that’s one good one that I’ve been doing every day for years. You should too.

PS “Like” Williams Whittle’s Facebook page today and we’ll make a donation to the American Red Cross.
